Good morning! Today I am in John 9:1-12. As Jesus was walking, He saw a man that had been born blind. His disciples asked Him why the man was blind, if it was because of his sins or his parent's sins? Jesus told them neither. He was blind so the power of God could be seen in him. Jesus said, "We must carry out the tasks assigned to us by the One who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work. But while I am here in the world, I am the light of the world. (John 9:4)" Then He spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the man's eyes. Then He told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. The man did what Jesus said, and came back seeing. Everyone that knew him as a blind beggar, asked each other if he was the same beggar? The man told them yes, he was the beggar that was blind. They asked him what had happened, and he told them what Jesus did. They asked him who healed him, and he told them, "the man they call Jesus." They asked him where Jesus was, but he did not know.
Back then the Jewish culture believed that when bad things happened it was because of a person's sins, whether that person or their parents, but Jesus told them it was for the power of God to be seen. We have the same thoughts today. But it is not always because of our sins or our parent's sins. Just like this man, it may be for God's power to be seen through us. When we suffer from a disease, tragedy, or disability, instead of asking ourselves why this happened to us or what did we do wrong, ask God to give you the strength for the trial and a clear perspective on what is happening. We live in a fallen world, and many times innocent people suffer, but regardless of the reasons for our suffering, Jesus has the power to help us deal with it.
No matter what trial we are facing, Jesus can help us get through. All we have to do is turn to Him and ask Him to help us. He can show us what steps we need to take. Whatever trail we face, and finally get through, becomes a part of our testimony. That testimony can help other people see the power of God working in our lives, and give them hope that God can do the same for them. God knows what each one of us go through, and He wants to help us. Every time He helps us, the more He grows us. And the more He grows us, the more we can help other people. He has assigned all of us a task, and the work that God is doing in us, the trials we go through and grow from, helps us accomplish those tasks while we are alive. Like Jesus told His disciples, "a time is coming when no one can work." One day we will all pass away, and we will not be able to do anything else on this earth. Then we will have to give an account of how we spent this life that God has given us. So while we are here, we are to use our time and talents wisely for Him, doing the work He has called us to. Allow God to guide you through whatever you are facing today. Ask Him to give you are clear perspective. He will.
