Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 14:13-21, Mark 6:30-44, Luke 9:10-17, and John 6:1-15. The disciples come back to Jesus and told Him all about the things they had done and taught in the different towns they had gone to. Jesus said for them all to get in the boat so they could go to a quiet place and rest for awhile. But the crowds knew where they were going, and they met them when Jesus and the disciples stopped. When Jesus saw the crowd, He had compassion on them and began teaching and healing them. After a while, the disciples went up to Jesus and told Him to send the crowd away so they could go get themselves some food, and a place to stay for the night. But Jesus told them to feed the people. The disciples responded, "With what?" They didn't have enough money to go buy food for the people, and there was no way they could catch enough fish to feed them. And the food they did have on hand, that a boy had, would not feed that many people. But Jesus told them to bring Him what they did have, which was 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread. And He told the disciples to gather the people up into groups of 50 and 100. Jesus took the food, thanked God for it, and blessed it. Then He began breaking the bread and fishes into pieces and passing it to the disciples to distribute to the people. After everyone ate their fill of food, Jesus told the disciples to gather the leftovers, and there were 12 baskets of bread and fish left. They had feed well over 5,000 men, women, and children.
The disciples did not understand or see how they could feed so many people. They were only looking at what they didn't have, not what they had or what God could do. But Jesus told them to bring Him what they had. When we are going through difficult situations, like the disciples, we can't see past what we don't have. Thinking we don't have what we need, or what can I do with what little I do have. But just like Jesus told them, He tells us the same thing. Trust Him with what little you do have. Offer what little you have, and He can multiply it. He was able to use a young boys lunch to serve all those people. The boy offered what He had, and Jesus blessed it and multiplied it.
Have you trusted God with what you have? God is the one that blesses us with everything we need, but He also wants us to use what we have to bless other people. When we use what we have to bless other people, He can multiply what we have given, whether that is time, abilities, or resources. He can multiply the effectiveness of these things beyond anything we could ever imagine. And the more we give, the more we will receive. You can never out give God. Trust God with what He has blessed you with and allow Him to do only what He can do. Not only did He take care of their spiritual needs, but He took care of their physical needs, and He can do the same thing for you.
