More Understanding

Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 17:22-23, Mark 9:30-32, and Luke 9:43-45. After casting the evil spirits out of the boy, Jesus and His disciples traveled through Galilee. Jesus didn't want anyone to know where He was. He turned to His disciples and told them that the Son of Man was going to be betrayed into the hands of His enemies, and be killed. But on the third day, He would be raised from the dead. The disciples didn't understand and they were too afraid to ask Jesus what He meant. Luke tells us that the significance of what Jesus had said was hidden from them.

This was the second time that Jesus had told them that He would be killed, but the disciples still did not understand. And they couldn't understand why He would go where He knew He would be killed. They may not of understood, but they believed Jesus and still followed Him. The disciples were with Jesus for 3 years and they did not understand everything that Jesus taught or even said. They could not understand everything about Jesus. But they still trusted Him and followed Him.

We, like the disciples, don't have all the answers, and that is okay. We must remain faithful to God anyway. We must not let our lack of understanding stop us from trusting Him. When we don't understand, we can ask God to help us. He may not reveal everything to us all at once, but He will start helping us understand. The more we spend time with God the more He reveals to us, and the more understanding He gives. He opens our hearts and minds when we ask Him to.
