Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 5:43-48, and Luke 6:27-36. Jesus tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Do good to those who hate us, and bless those who curse us. Give to anyone who asks, and when things are taken from us, don't try to get them back. Do to others as we would have them do to us. Lend to others without expecting to be repaid. Then our reward in heaven will be great, and we will prove that we are truly children of the Most High, for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. He wants us to be compassionate, just like our heavenly Father is compassionate to all.
We cannot be like this without God's help. The more time we spend with God in His Word, in prayer, and worship, the more He will help us be kind and compassionate to everyone around us, no matter what they do to us. Jesus was beaten and betrayed, but He still loved His persecutors, and actually prayed for them on the cross. When we show love to even wicked and evil people, we are showing them the love of God. When we are not reacting negatively to bad things people do to us, we are showing the love of God. For we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, but God forgives each and everyone of us. And He wants us to show that same kind of love to a hurting world. That love draws people to God.
Do you have people in your life that are hard to get along with? In every area and season of our lives we are going to have to deal with hard people, but instead of reacting in anger, show kindness. If you have to deal with them on a daily basis, pray for them. Ask God to give you a kind and compassionate heart. We never know what people are dealing with in their personal lives that causes them to be hard. But life is hard, and many times we allow all the bad things that have happened to us, and is currently happening to us, to harden our hearts. Causing us to lash out and be mean to other people, making us lose our tempers. But God can help soften our hearts and heal the pain that is there. As He does that, He starts changing our attitudes towards others. Then we can truly help others. Allow God to help you show His love to even those who hate you today.
