Shine Your Light

Good morning! Today I am in Mark 4:21-25 and Luke 8:16-18. Here Jesus asks the people if they would light a lamp and hide it under something. No, it would be placed where the light can be seen by all who enter the house. In the same way, everything that is hidden will be brought to light and made known to all. He tells us to pay attention to what we He is saying for if we listen to His teaching, more understanding will be given. But those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away.

God wants us to listen to what Jesus is telling us in His Word. He wants us to listen and put into action what we are learning. His truth is the light. When we seek Him, and listen to what He is telling us, that light is being revealed to us. The more we listen to Him and follow Him, the more understanding He will give us. He wants us to shine that light to all those around us, so they can see His light through us. We are not to hide what He shows us, we are to share it with others. That light also flushes out any darkness that is within us. We must remember that anything that we try to hide, will eventually be revealed to all, good or bad.

Are you shining the light that God has placed in you? Sometimes we can be scared to share the Good News of Jesus to those around us. And sometimes our attitudes and disobedience will cause us not to shine that light. But the more we seek God, the more He will give us the boldness and encouragement to shine that light. Don't allow the world to dim the light of Jesus in your life. Allow Jesus to use the light in you to help those around you today.
