Good morning! Today I am in John 6:22-40. The crowd that was with Jesus when He fed the fish and bread, went looking for Jesus but couldn't find Him. They had seen the disciples take a boat to the other side of the lake, but did not see Jesus go with them. But they couldn't find Jesus, so they got into some boats and went to the other side of the lake as well. When they got there they saw Jesus and asked Him when He got there because they did not see Him get on a boat. But Jesus told them that they look for Him because He fed them not because they understood the miraculous signs. He tells them to not be worried about perishable things like food, but instead to spend their energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of God can give them. They told Him that they wanted to perform God's works too, and asked what they should do. Jesus told them that the only work that God wants from them is for them to believe on the One He sent. They told Jesus to show them a sign if He wants them to believe in Him, saying that the Scriptures tell them that their ancestors ate manna as they journeyed through the wilderness, that was given to them by Moses. Jesus tells them that Moses was not the one that provided their ancestors this bread but His Father, and now His Father offers them true bread from heaven. That the true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. Then they ask Jesus to give them this bread everyday. Jesus tells them that He is the bread of life, and that whoever comes to Him will never be hungry or thirsty again. But they haven't believed in Him even though they saw Him, and saw the miracles He did. But those that the Father has given Him will come to Him and He would never reject them. For He had come down from heaven to do the will of God, not His own will. And it is God's will that He not lose even one of all those He has given Him, but that He will raise them on the last day. For it is the Father's will that all who see His Son and believe in Him should have eternal life.
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord that there is nothing that we can do on our own. We don't have to have all the answers, we don't have to work hard and wear ourselves out striving to be everything and do everything. All we have to do is believe in the One that our Father in heaven sent. That is such a blessing. It is a heavy weight that is lifted off our shoulders. The world wants to make us think that it has all the answers, that we have to work hard, and strive to be the best. But Jesus tells us otherwise. Jesus tells us all we have to do is believe in Him and He will provide all we need. He satisfies our hunger and thirst! We don't have to do this life alone. He promises us that He is there for us always, and once we believe in Him, He will never reject us. He gives us every single thing that we need, so we don't have to worry. I love that! God is so good to us, even though we don't deserve it! He loves us and has loved us from the very beginning.
Do you feel stuck, like you don't know what to do? Trust that Jesus has what you need and that He alone can help you. When you are feeling stuck and unsure, turn to Him. Seek Him, and allow Him to help you. He can and will satisfy the spiritual hunger and thirst that you have. We all have those spiritual needs, and He is the only one that can help. Just like the Lord fed His people in the wilderness, giving them everything they needed, He can do the same for you.
