Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 6:1-4. Jesus tells us not to do our good deeds publicly, to be admired by others. To not be like the hypocrites that give for the admiration and attention of others, for that is the only reward they will receive. When we give, give privately, for our Father, that sees everything, will reward us.
God sees everything, not just our actions but our hearts to. He knows when we are doing something for the attention of the world, or if we are doing it for Him, from a pure heart. God wants us to give to those in need, but give because we love God and want to help His people here on earth, not because we will gain a reward here on earth. Give with a pure heart. The closer we draw to God, the more He will start showing us ways that we can help others with the resources He blesses us with.
What is your motive when you give? Do you give because you feel obligated to or because you seek attention from those around you, or do you give because you truly want to? God doesn't want us to do anything out of obligation or for attention. He wants us to give because we truly want to. God blesses us with everything we have, as well as, the time and energy that He gives us. He wants us to be good stewards of all those things. Using them to serve Him and His kingdom here on earth. But do them because we love Him, and seek to do good for Him, pointing others to Him through our good deeds. It's not about us, but God. God wants us to be God-centered not self-centered. Check your motives. If you notice that you are doing things for the attention of others, ask God to change your heart. He will.
