Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 6:25-34. Jesus tells us not to worry about what we should eat or drink or wear, because life is more than just these things. He tells us to look at the birds and how they do not plant or harvest or store things in barns, but our heavenly Father provides them with everything they need. Then He tells us to look at the lilies in the field, how they are here today and gone tomorrow, but they are dressed beautifully. He tells us that we are more important to God than birds and flowers, and if He takes care of them, then He will take care of us. So we don't have to worry, for worry will not add anymore life to us. That we have enough trouble to worry about each day, instead of worrying about what will happen tomorrow. So, He tells us to seek God's Kingdom above all else, and live righteously, and He will give us everything we need.
I love this! It takes so much pressure off of us. Jesus teaches us why focusing on God first in our lives will help us. Worry does nothing but harm to us. Worry will keep us from walking in faith and trusting God. Sometimes it will make us feel stuck, unsure of what to do. But when we seek God first, He will guide us on the next steps to take. He will encourage us to keep moving forward with Him, and He will give us the strength to keep going. God is not against planning our days, He just doesn't want our wants and needs to consume us because He has got everything under control. That also doesn't mean we can be lazy, God wants us to be actively working with the things He has blessed us with.
Is your life filled with worry? If it is, ask God to help you with that. He does not want you to live in a state of fear or worry. He wants you to have peace. Our peace and content can only be found in Him. So, if you feel yourself stressing out today about things you can't control, ask God to give you peace. To calm your mind, and guide you on the right thought pattern. He will. The more you spend time with Him, the more peace you will have in your life. That does not mean bad things won't happen to us, but God can help you get through anything you will face today or tomorrow. Give whatever you are worrying about to Him, and He will help you.
