Good afternoon! Today I am in Matthew 18:1-5, Mark 9:33-37, and Luke 9:46-48. Jesus and His disciples settle down in a house in Capernaum. Jesus turned to His disciples and asked them what they were arguing about while they were on the road. The disciples did not want to answer Him because they were arguing about which of them was the greatest. Jesus knew what they were thinking, so He called a little child over to Him. He told the disciples that unless they turn from their sins and become like little children, they would never get into the Kingdom of Heaven They must become as humble as little children. And if anyone welcomes a little child on His behalf is welcoming Him, as well as, welcoming His Father who sent Him. And that whoever wants to be first must be least and be the servant of everyone else.
The disciples were caught up in their constant struggle for personal success. Seeking positions of advantage. Focusing on themselves and their selfish desires. Jesus explained what was more important to God. Which is not to focus on ourselves but on how we can help others. If we truly want to be leaders, we must put our selfish desires aside, and ask God how we can serve Him and His Kingdom here on earth. Jesus was and is a King, but He came down to earth to help us. To save us. We must do the same. Our ways are not God's ways. The world's ways are not God's ways. We must look to Him to guide us. Laying our lives down for Him, just like He did for us. That is how we become great. We must allow God to soften our hearts. Replacing our selfish hearts with a heart of a servant. One that wants to serve Him.
