One Big Church Family

4:38 am

Good morning! Today I am in Acts 2:42-47. All the people that listened to Peter and were baptized formed one large community. Devoting themselves to the apostles' teachings, to prayer, to sharing meals together, and to fellowship together. They also shared in the Lord's Supper together. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. All the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions, and shared the money with those in need. They worshiped at the Temple together everyday, and met in homes for the Lord's Supper. Sharing their meals with great joy and generosity. And the whole time they praised God and enjoyed the goodwill of all the people. And everyday God added to their fellowship those that were being saved.

All these new believers devoted themselves to the Lord. Everyday learning from the apostles, praying, and fellowshiping with each other. The new believers were not left alone to fend for themselves, but they were added to the body of believers. They were surrounded by other believers, and encouraged by them. And everyone in the group contributed, joyfully. United as one.

We as believers today, should be this same way. No matter what our denomination is, if we are believers and followers of Jesus Christ, we should be united in Christ. United as one body of believers, one family. Helping each other and building each other up, not tearing each other down because we don't agree on certain aspects. And as the church family, we are to be sharing what we have and helping others the best we can. Not giving because we are told to, but giving because we love God and want to help others.

No matter how much we have or how little we have, we can all share and help each other out. We all have different skills and resources, that God has blessed us with, that we can use to build up God's church body. God wants us to be generous brothers and sisters. Sharing with those and need, just like He blesses us with everything we have. The more we share freely with those in need, the more He will bless us. I love the saying, "You can't out give God", because you can't. He is the Creator of everything and the giver of everything we have and need. And other people, especially nonbelievers, need to see us giving so they can learn where our hope comes from. United as one body in Christ, we can make a huge difference in the world around us. Allow God to use you today to bless others. The world needs you.
