Good morning! Today I am in John 9:35-41. Jesus heard about the Pharisees and religious leaders questioning the man He had healed. He went and found the man, and asked him if He believed in the Son of Man? The man asked Him who He is, and that he wanted to believe in Him. Jesus told the man that he has seen Him and is speaking to Him now. The man told Jesus that he does believe and began worshiping Him. Jesus told the man that He came into the world to render judgment - "to give sight to the blind and to show those who think they can see that they are blind. (John 9:39)" There were some Pharisees nearby that heard what Jesus had told the man, and asked Jesus if He was saying they were spiritually blind? Jesus told them that they wouldn't be guilty if they were blind, but because they claim they can see, they remain guilty.
The Pharisees and religious leaders claimed to know all the Scriptures and all about God, but they did not believe Jesus. They did not believe what Jesus was saying, that all Scriptures points to Him. They did not believe. They were spiritually blind. They were blinded by their stubbornness in adhering to all their man made rules - all the rules they had added to God's.
We too remain spiritually blind when we don't accept what Jesus is telling us, what He is showing us. He calls everyone of us to Him. Inviting us into His Kingdom. But many times we will say we don't believe because we haven't personally seen the evidence, or we have a hard time accepting what the Word tells us. But God has proof all around us. All we have to do is ask God to help us see. When we do, He will start opening our eyes. He will start revealing Himself to us, a little at a time. But that is what it takes, time. Spending time with Him. Praying and worshiping Him alone. Giving Him space in your life so He can help you see. He wants to. Just like Jesus wanted to open the blind man's eyes physically and spiritually, He wants to open your eyes today. Give Him a chance. He will surprise you.
