Be Ready

4:33 am

Good morning! Today I am in Luke 12:35-48. Jesus tells His disciples to be ready for service, as if waiting on their Master to return. Dressed and with their lamps burning, so when He arrives and knocks at the door, they would be ready to let Him in. The servants that are ready for His return would be rewarded. The Master can return at any time, but when He does come, the ones who are ready will be rewarded. They must be ready at all times for the Son of Man will come when they least expect it. Peter asked Jesus if this was for everyone or just them. He tells them that a faithful and sensible servant is one that the Master can give the responsibility of managing the other household servants. If the Master returns and the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. But if the servant mistreats the other servants, partying and getting drunk, the Master will return unexpectedly and will punish the servant. A servant that knows what the Master wants, but doesn't carry out His instructions and isn't prepared, and will be severely punished. But someone that doesn't know, does something wrong, will only be punished lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return, and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.

Jesus is warning all of us to be ready. When He comes back for His people, He will come unexpectedly. But we are to be ready. He has given us His Word, the Bible, to guide us and teach us how to be ready. As children of God, we are to be ready at all times. Not just for ourselves, but also helping others understand how to be ready. Working together to prepare one another. He has given everyone of us the responsibility to steward our resources well. Everything He has blessed us with, are things He has given us to use to build His Kingdom. The more we learn, the more He wants us to walk out and teach to others. The more He blesses us with, the more He wants us to use to help others. If we steward well the things He has blessed us with, the bigger our reward will be in heaven. But if we don't steward well, and take advantage of everything He has done for us, we will be punished.

We are to be ready at all times, and we should be working diligently to share Jesus with everyone we can. Be ready. God gives us everything we need to be ready for when He returns. Use your resources and time wisely. God sees and He will reward you in the end. Trust Him and allow Him to guide you in what He wants you to be doing today.
