Believe the Evidence

Good morning! Today I am in John 10:22-42. At this time Jesus is walking through Solomon's Colonnade in the Temple, it was the time of Hanukkah. Several people surrounded Jesus, telling Him that if He was the Messiah, He should tell them plainly. Jesus tells them that He has told Him but they did not believe Him. Telling them that the proof is in the work He does in His Father's name, but they don't believe Him because they are not His sheep. He tells them that His sheep listen to His voice, He knows them, and they follow Him. He gives them eternal life, and they will never perish. And no one can snatch them away from Him, for His Father has given them to Him, and He is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father's hand (John 10:29). He tells them, "The Father and I are one. (John 10:30)" The people again, picked up stones to kill Him. Jesus tells them that at His Father's direction, He has done many good works. And He asks them, for which good work were they going to stone Him? They told Him they were not going to stone Him for any good work, but for blasphemy, claiming to be God. Jesus tells them that Scriptures say that God calls certain leaders "gods", and they know the Scriptures can't be altered. So if the people who received God's message were called "gods", then why do they call it blasphemy when He says He is the Son of God. He tells them that His Father is the one who set Him apart and sent Him into the world. He tells them not to believe Him unless He carries out His Father's work. But if He does His work, believe in the evidence of the miraculous works He has done, and understand that the Father is in Him and He is in the Father. They tried to arrest Him, but He got away. He went to where John the Baptist was first baptizing people. And many followed Him saying that John did not perform miraculous signs, gut everything He had said about Jesus was true. And many of them believed Jesus.

Jesus told them that they didn't believe Him because they were not His sheep. But all the proof they needed was in the evidence of His works that He had performed already. Telling them that His works were the evidence of who He was and whose He was. He was and is the Son of God, and everything He did was for His Father. It was the will of His Father, and still is. Everything Jesus did was for His Father, and everything He is still doing today is for His Father. We have all the evidence we need. God has given us plenty of proof to prove He exists and that Jesus was who He said He was. It is up to us to seek Him and ask Him to help us see what He is doing and has already done.

Just as Jesus' works were proof of who He was, He wants us to live a life that points people to God. As believers and followers of Jesus, everything we do should be pointing to God. Proving to the world around us who we belong to. These people were trying to kill Jesus, they were proving by their actions that they were not His sheep. But as His followers, our actions should prove who we belong to. Our actions will not get us into Heaven, only through faith in Jesus will we get into Heaven, but our actions should prove what we believe. If our actions are not lining up with what God tells us through His Word, then we are proving to the world around us that we don't truly believe what He tells us and follow Him. We must make up our minds about Jesus, and follow through with our actions. We cannot be on the fence because the enemy owns the fence. You either follow Him or you don't. Ask God to help you follow Him. He wants to draw you closer to Him. He can help you follow Him. He can help you by opening your eyes and softening your heart. He wants to because the more you understand Him, the more He can help you, and the more you can help those around you. Chose His ways today. Ask Him to help you see the evidence of Him around you today. He will show you.
