Christ is Coming Back

Good morning! Today I am in Luke 17:20-37. One day, some of the Pharisees asked Jesus when the Kingdom of God would come? He tells them that the Kingdom of God cannot be detected by visible signs. They wouldn't be able to say that it is here or there, for the Kingdom of God is already among them. He tells them that the day is coming that they would long to see the day when the Son of Man returns, but they won't see it. People will tell them that He is here, but He tells them to not follow those people. Just like lightening flashes in the sky, so it will be when on the day He comes. But first the Son of Man must suffer terribly and be rejected by that generation. When He does return, it will be like it was in Noah and Lot's days. People will be going on about their daily lives and tasks right up until they were destroyed. On that day, a person must not go and pack or return home. He reminds them about what happened to Lot's wife and tells them that if they cling to their lives, they will lose them, but if they let their lives go for His sake, they will save it. On that day, 2 people would be together, and one would be taken and the other left behind. The disciples asked Jesus when this would happen. He told them that just as a gathering of vultures signify a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.

The Pharisees asked Jesus when the Kingdom of God would come, they did not realize that the Kingdom of God was already among them. Jesus had brought the Kingdom of God to them. The Kingdom of God begins with the work of God's Spirit in our lives and our relationships. We are already a part of His Kingdom if we believe in Him. Jesus tells us that when He returns, everyone will be going about their regular, daily lives. He tells us to not follow people that say He is already here or will be here on a certain date or time, but that He will come suddenly and unexpectedly, like a flash of lightning. And it will be very evident that it is Him. So evident that everyone will know it is Him. And when He does come, to not look back. We are to be ready for His return at all times. Living in the way He tells us to live.

Jesus tells us that people will be living like they were in Noah and Lot's days. In Noah's days, before the flood, the earth was filled with wickedness and corruption. They were living their lives doing whatever they wanted, not caring about God or anyone else, up until they were completely destroyed. And so were the people in Sodom. Those will be evil days, but we must stay strong in the Lord, following Him, no matter what the world around us says. Like Noah, we must trust the Lord, and be ready.

There has been many people throughout the years that claimed the end was near. Writing books about it or preaching about it. I do believe we are living in the end times, that Christ will return soon. I don't know when, but I do know, just like Jesus says, we must be ready at all times. As well as getting other people to understand the importance of being ready. No ,we do not know when Jesus will return, but one thing is for sure, there will be an end for every one of us, and none of us know when that will be, so we must be ready.

Trust God. Follow Him. Don't lock back at your old life and long for it, but look forward. Keep pressing forward, looking to God for guidance and strength. We don't have to be afraid of anything we may face. He has got us. But we must choose Him every day, every second. Choose His ways, not the world's ways.
