Good morning! Today I am in Luke 12:49-53. Jesus tells His disciples that He came to set the world on fire, and wishes it was already burning because He had a baptism of suffering ahead of Him. He tells them He is under a heavy burden until it is accomplished. He tells them that He has not come to bring peace to the earth, but division. Dividing people against each other. Families would be split apart.
Jesus was looking forward to when He would be crucified on the cross. He knew it was coming, and He warned them of what He was about to face. And from there, people would have to make a decision, to believe Him or not. To choose Him or not. That decision will cause division. That decision back in Jesus' day, would have got the disciples kicked out of the synagogue. For us today, it may mean losing a family member or friends that do not agree with the choice we make. Whatever the consequence is that you face, you have a decision to make. We cannot be afraid of choosing Him because when we do, He will help us every step of the way. The disciples back then had to make a decision. We too have to decide. And the decision has eternal consequences. Jesus took the cross for everyone of us, and He gives everyone of us the choice to be a part of His Kingdom or not. His child or not. The choice is yours. Choose Him today, and allow Him to renew your life. When you do He will be with you always, never leaving you, never abandoning you. For you will be His child for eternity.
