Follow Jesus

Good morning! Today I am in John 21:15-25. After the disciples finished eating, Jesus asked Pete if he loved Him more than the others did. Peter told Him, "Yes Lord, You know I love You." Jesus replied, "Then feed my lambs." Jesus repeated the question to Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter replied the same thing. Jesus tells him again, "Then take care of my sheep." Jesus asked him a third time, "Do you love me?" Peter answered again saying, "Lord, You know everything. You know I love You." Jesus said again, "Then feed my sheep." Then Jesus tells Peter that when he was young, he was able to do as he like, dressing himself and going where ever he liked. But when he is older, others would dress him and take him where he would not want to go. Jesus told Peter this to let him know what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him to follow Him. Peter turned and saw John, and Peter asked Jesus, "What about John?" Jesus told Peter, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? As for you, follow me." So a rumor spread among the community of believers that John would not die, but that isn't what Jesus said. John adds that he is the one that testifies to these events in this book he wrote. And he says that Jesus did many other things, and if they were all written down, the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.

Peter denied Jesus three times ,as Jesus had told him, he would. And here, Jesus asks Peter 3 times if he loved Him. Jesus knew that Peter was truly sorry for what he had done, and Jesus came directly to Peter forgiving him. Telling Peter that if he truly loved Him, he would feed His sheep. And when Peter asked about what would happen to John, Jesus told him that what happened to John was no concern for Peter. That Peter should focus on Him and not John.

We all tend to compare ourselves to other people, especially other believers. But God doesn't want us looking to other people on how we should do things. He wants us to look towards Him. He wants us to be more concerned about our own walk with Him, and not what other people are doing. We are all different and unique, with different experiences and personalities that make us different from other people. So each of our walks with God will be different and look different. So, don't get caught up in how others are doing their walks. If you seek God first, He will show you the best way for you and your life. The best path for you. God has plans for every one of us, so seek Him and allow Him to guide you. Follow Him and Him alone, and don't let this world distract you from Him.
