Good morning! Today I am in Luke 13:10-17. One Sabbath day, as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, He saw a woman that was crippled by an evil spirit, and had been for 18 years. She was bent double and could not stand up straight. Jesus called her over and said to her, "Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness! (Luke 13:12)" He touched her and instantly she was healed. The religious teacher there saw this and was annoyed that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath, and told Him that there were 6 days for working. And told Him to come on those days to heal, not the Sabbath. But Jesus called him a hypocrite, and telling him that each of them work on the Sabbath because they take care of their animals, even on the Sabbath. He told them that the woman was a daughter of Abraham that had been held in bondage to Satan for 18 years. He asked them, "Isn't it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath? (Luke 13:16)" This shamed His enemies, but the people rejoiced.
Jesus came to heal and save us from all the ways the enemy keeps us bound. This woman had been crippled by an evil spirit for 18 years. Jesus did not care that it was a Sabbath day, He just saw a woman who was struggling in bondage. The religious leaders could not see past the law to help the woman. But Jesus did. Jesus saw her struggle, and He called her over, and freed her.
Jesus wants us to look past the law, and see people where they are, no matter what day it is. He wants us to be able to help people that He shows us to help, without fear. He will show us what to do and say at the right time. If you cross paths with someone that looks like they need help, don't be afraid to offer help. God places people at the right place, at the right time, to use us to help others. Just like He helps everyone of us. All we have to do is step out in faith and trust God to guide us. He wants to free you from the bandage of slavery, and He wants to use you to point others to Him. Ask God to help you today walk in the freedom He offers, and then to open your eyes and heart to the people that may need you today. And He will bless you with the Holy Spirit to guide you and give you the boldness you need in Him.
