He Still had Compassion

Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 27th:33-44, Mark 15:22-32, Luke 23:32-43, and John 19:17-27. The soldiers took Jesus to Golgotha, the Place of the Skull. They offered Him wine drugged with myrrh. but He refused it. They nailed Him to the cross at 9 am and hung a sign above His head that said, "This is Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews", in 3 different languages. The leading priests protested and wanted Pilate to change it to say, "He said, I am the King of the Jews", but Pilate told them no. When they nailed Him to the cross, Jesus asked the Father to forgive them for they don't know what they are doing. There were also 2 criminals hanging on both sides. The four soldiers that were standing guard divided His clothing, and threw dice to see who would get the clothes, fulfilling the Scripture in Psalm 22:18. The crowded watched and mocked Jesus. Saying if He was truly the Son of God, He would get Himself off and everyone would believe. One of the criminals hanging beside Jesus also mocked Him. But the other criminal told him, "Don't you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn't done anything wrong." Then he asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His Kingdom. Jesus told him, "I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise." Standing near the cross were Jesus' mother, and His mother's sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw His mother standing beside John, He told His mother, "Dear woman, here is your son." And He told John, "Here is your mother." And from then on he took her into his house.

Even while Jesus was being nailed to the cross and mocked, He still asked His Father to forgive the people because they did not know what they were doing. The two criminals on the cross remind me that there are only two choices for us to make. We either choose to be like the world and mock Jesus. Refuse to believe Him. Or like the other criminal that was there and choose to believe. Like these criminals that were beside Jesus, we are all guilty of sin, and deserve to die. But Jesus did not deserve it. And even while that criminal was on his cross dying, Jesus still gave Him a chance.

No matter what you have done today. You are still alive. You still have a chance. He will forgive you if you make the choice to believe and trust Him today. It's not too late, not yet. But there will be a day when it will be. One day we will all die. But while we are still alive, Jesus still has compassion for you. He still wants you to be part of His Kingdom. Then when we do pass away, we will be with Him in paradise, just like He told the criminal that was hanging beside Him.
