Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 22:1-14. Jesus told them all another parable to explain what the Kingdom of Heaven is like. He told them that a king prepared a great wedding feast for his son. When it was ready, he sent his servants to let those he invited know that it was ready. But all of the guest refused to come. He sent other servants to tell them that the bulls and fattened cattle had been killed, and everything was ready, but they all went their own way, ignoring them. Some of the guests that were invited, seized the messengers, insulted them, and killed them. The king was furious so he sent his army to destroy the murders and burn down their town. Then he told some more of his servants to go out into the streets and invite everyone they see, good and bad. The guests came, and the banquet was full. But when the king came to meet the guests, he noticed a man did not have on his wedding clothes. The king asked him, "Friend, how is it that you are here without wedding clothes?" But the man had no reply, so the king ordered that he be bound and thrown into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.

God had sent His messengers and prophets to invite His people to join Him for eternity, the banquet in heaven. But many refused to listen and they even killed them. Because God's Chosen people refused to accept His invitation, repent, and turn to Him, going their own way, God left them to their fate, and extended His invitation to all people, Gentiles. Everyone who accepts this invitation, and repents of their sins, is clothed in the righteousness of God. So in the end, on judgment day, God does not look at the sins of His people, instead He sees us clothed in righteousness that His Son gave to us. But if we show up to the banquet without being clothed in the righteousness of God, we will be cast out, just like the one guest was.

The guest that showed up to the party without the wedding clothes, are the people that claim the follow Jesus, claim to be Christians, but in their hearts they never truly accepted Him and what He offers us. They never truly surrendered to God. Just like the Pharisees and religious leaders of Jesus' time.

God gives everyone of us this invitation. Inviting us to be in His heavenly Kingdom with Him for eternity. But like the guests that were invited to the party, we have to choose to accept and then put on the clothing of righteousness. We put on the clothing of righteousness by repenting and asking God to forgive us, and then following and obeying His commands. Following Him, spending time with Him. Then when He looks at us, He will see His Son in us. His Spirit in us. Such a beautiful invitation, for everyone of us. But the consequence of not choosing Him is being cast out. Cast out far away from Him, into hell. Accept His invitation while you still have time. If you do believe and trust in Jesus, and obey God, you don't have to be afraid, because He has a beautiful feast in heaven waiting on you.
