Good morning! Today I am in John 10:1-21. After Jesus tells the man He healed of blindness, that He came to give sight to the blind, He begins to tell them that He is the Good Shepherd. He tells them the gatekeeper opens the gate for the sheep and they recognize His voice and they come to Him. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. He walks ahead of them and they follow Him because they know His voice. But anyone who sneaks over the wall of the sheepfold is a thief. The people did not understand what Jesus was saying, so He explained it to them saying that He is the Gate for the sheep. All who came before Him were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. He tells them that He is the gate, and anyone who comes in through Him, will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. He tells them the thief's purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy, but His purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. He tells them He is the Good Shepherd. And the Good Shepherd sacrifices His life for His sheep. He tells them a hired hand will abandon the sheep when danger comes because the sheep do not belong to him, he is only there for the money. But the True Shepherd sacrifices His life for His sheep. He knows His sheep, and His sheep know Him, just as He knows His Father, and His Father knows Him. He tells them that He has other sheep that are not in that sheepfold, and He must bring them as well. They will listen to His voice, and there will be one flock with one shepherd. He tells them that the Father loves Him because He sacrifices His life for the sheep so that He may take it back again. And that no one can take His life from Him without His consent. He sacrifices it voluntarily for He has the authority to lay it down when He wants to and also to take it up again, for this is what His Father has commanded. After He said these things, the crowd was divided. Some said He was demon possessed but others said, "How can a demon possessed man heal the blind?"

Jesus tells us that He is the Good Shepherd. He is the only way to the Father. He is the One who calls us by name. When we turn to Jesus and start following Him, it is because He called us, and we heard His voice. As we follow Him, He leads us, guards us, and supplies our needs. And no one will be able to take us from Him because He is always guarding us. He will never leave us. But we must continue to follow Him and spend time with Him. If we don't spend time with Him through His Word and prayer, the enemy will try to sneak in and steal us. We may mistake the enemies voice for Jesus' voice. The more we spend time with Jesus, the more we will know His voice. But if we don't spend time with Him we will not get to know His voice, and know when He is calling to us. Jesus gave His life as a sacrifice for every person on earth, but it is up to us to choose to follow Him. Being a Christian is following Him, Our Good Shepherd. Following Him wherever He leads us because He knows what is best for everyone of us.

Spend time with Him so you will be able to hear Him when He calls you. Get to know Him through His Word, the Bible, and through prayer. All you have to do is seek Him. Call out to Him. Talk to Him as you would your best friend, because He is the best friend that you will ever have. You can go to Him with any and everything because He already knows you. He created you. He knows every single thing about you, even what you think about. You don't have to be afraid to talk to Him. The more you spend time with Him, the more He will lead you on the best path for your life. Allow Him to guide you today.
