Good morning! I hope everyone made it through the storms safely, they got pretty bad around here, especially Monday night. We ended up having a tree down in the middle of our drive way, pretty good size tree. Praise the Lord, nobody was hurt. Yesterday evening, after we got off work, it stopped raining about 6 pm and we were able to get out there and get some of it out of the driveway so we can get out this morning. But other than that, that is all the damage we had, that I can tell at this time.

Anyways, this morning I am in John 11:17-37. When Jesus gets to Bethany, someone tells Him that Lazarus had been in his grave for 4 days. When Martha heard that Jesus had arrived, she went out to meet Him, but Mary stayed in the house. Martha told Jesus that if He had been there her brother would not have died, but even now she knew that God would give Him anything He asked. Jesus told her that her brother would rise again. Martha told Him that she knew he would rise on the last day with everyone else. Jesus told her that He is the resurrection and the life, and anyone who believes in Him will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in Him and believe in Him will never die. Then He asked her if she believed Him. She said yes, she had always believed that He is the Messiah, the Son of God. She returned to Mary and told her that the teacher was there and He wanted to see her. So she immediately went to Him. There were mourners there, and they thought she was leaving to weep at Lazarus's grave, so they followed her. When she got to Jesus, she fell at His feet weeping, and told Him that if He would have been there her brother would not have died. Jesus saw her weeping and the other people wailing, and a deep anger welled up within Him, and He was deeply troubled. He asked her where they put him. They told Him to come and see. And Jesus wept. The people that saw Him said that He loved Lazarus very much, and others were saying that they knew He healed a blind man, "Couldn't He have kept Lazarus from dying?"

Here we see how much God cares for His people. We know that Jesus had a purpose in delaying going to see Lazarus, that He had a plan, but it does not change the fact that it was a very heavy moment for everyone who loved Lazarus. And Lazarus was a beloved friend of His. Even though Jesus had a plan, He still felt sorrow and grief, but not only that but anger. Jesus was human like us, so He felt all the emotions we do. He knows exactly what we are going through, and He is right there for us, comforting us in those moments. Its okay to feel sorrow, grief, and anger. God understands. But God does not want us to stay stuck in those feelings. He wants us to know that He is right there with us in the middle of it, and He will help us get through those moments. The enemy wants us to think that we cannot move on from those moments and that no one will know or understand how you are feeling, but God does. And He cares for you in those moments.

Like Martha and Mary, we must believe that Jesus is who He said He was, that He is the resurrection and the life. He is the one who created us, He is the one who gave us life. And He died and conquered the grave so that we could live eternally with Him. This earthly life is not the end. If you believe in Jesus, when this earthly life passes away, you will be with Him in heaven. That is a promise He makes for everyone that believes in Him. Lazarus believed in Jesus. And Jesus was about to show them exactly what He meant when He said He is the resurrection! Praise the Lord!

Trust Him, even when you don't understand what is happening. Trust Him, even when you are so full of sorrow and grief that all you want to do is stay in the bed. In that moment, lean into Him. Talk to Him. And allow Him to be your comfort. He will and He will give you the strength to keep going.
