Jesus Speaks Life

Good morning! Today I am in John 11:38-44. When Jesus arrived at Lazarus's tomb, He is still angry. Lazarus's tomb was in a cave with a stone rolled in front of it. Jesus tells the people to roll the stone aside. But Martha told Him that Lazarus had been dead for 4 days already and the smell would be terrible. But Jesus asked her, "Didn't I tell you if you believed, you would see God's glory?" So they rolled the stone aside, as He told them to, and He looked up to heaven. He thanked God for hearing Him, as He always did, and that He is saying this out loud for the sake of everyone around Him, so that they would believe He sent Him. Then He shout for Lazarus to come out. Lazarus came out with his hands and feet bound in grave clothes, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus told them to unwrap him and let him go.

Amazing! I love this imagery here because it makes me think of us. When we are living the life of the world, we are dead in our sin. Dead in our sin, wrapped in grave clothes. Then Jesus comes along and calls us out. Reviving our spirit, resurrecting our spirit that was once dead in sin, and setting us free. Now we are not bound anymore by the chains of our sins. And we are not wrapped in grave clothes, but clothed in Jesus' righteousness. A white robe of righteousness.

What Jesus did for Lazarus, is what He does for everyone of us. He loves us so much, that He grieves when we are dead in our sin. Then He comes for us and calls us out. When we decide to listen, believe, and trust Him, He starts changing our lives, so much so that it is evident to those around us. Those that are around us see the change in our lives, and want to know what happened. And we get to tell them what God did for us. But we must believe, and choose to obey Him. Walk with Him daily. The more we walk with Him, the more He revives our lives. Speaking life into our bones that were once dead. His Words are life for us.
