Keep Seeking

Good morning! Today I am in Luke 11:1-13. One day, after Jesus was praying, one of His disciples came up to Him and asked Him to teach them to pray, just as John taught his disciples to pray. Jesus told them, they should pray like this, "Father, may Your name be kept holy. May Your Kingdom come soon. Give us each day the food we need and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don't let us yield to temptation. (Luke 11:2-4)" Then He tells them a story, saying suppose a man went to a friend's house in the middle of the night and asked Him for 3 loaves of bread because a friend of his had stopped by his house and he had nothing to feed him. The man, that you are asking for bread from, tells you from his bedroom, to not bother him for everyone in the house is asleep for the night, and the door is locked. Jesus tells them that the man wouldn't open the door, but if the man needing the bread keeps knocking long enough, his friend would get up and give him whatever he needed because of his persistence. He tells the disciples to keep on asking, and they would receive. To keep on seeking, and they would find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to them. "For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:10)" Then He tells them, "if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. (Luke 11:13)"

Jesus gives us the foundation of prayer: praising God first, then asking for what we need. God is faithful to His people. He supplies every single thing we need, at the right time, when we need it. His provision is daily, not all at once. We cannot store it up and then cut off our communication with God. God wants us to come to Him daily for whatever we need. Come persistent, not giving up. He is a good Father to us. We can come to Him boldly with our needs, and He is there to listen and help. If you don't see what you are asking for right away, don't give up. Jesus tells us to keep asking, keep seeking, and we will receive, we will find. God will open the door for us. Don't give up.
