Good afternoon! Today I am in Matthew 20:29-34, Mark 10:46-52, and Luke 18:35-43. As Jesus and His disciples are leaving the town of Jericho, a large crowd followed behind. They passed by two blind beggars. As the blind men heard that Jesus was passing by, they began crying out for Jesus to have mercy on them, calling Him Lord and Son of David. Matthew tells us there were two men, but Mark and Luke only tells us that it was one man, his name was Bartimaeus. When they began shouting to Jesus, the crowd following Jesus told them to be quiet, but they shouted louder. When Jesus heard them, He stopped and told the people to bring them to Him. Jesus asked them what they wanted from Him. They told Him that they wanted to see. Matthew tells us that Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes, and instantly they could see. Mark tells us they Jesus told Bartimaeus to go for his faith had headed him, and he instantly could see, and he began following Jesus. Luke tells us that Jesus told him, "Alright, receive your sight! Your faith has healed you!" And all who saw this happen believed.
Three different perspectives, telling it slightly different ways, but they are saying the same thing. The man or men's faith healed them. Whether it was two men or one, their faith healed them. If you notice, the crowd did not care about the blind man, they just wanted him to be quiet. That happens today, the people that need the most help get overlooked by society. But God doesn't over look us. He sees us in our times of need. He hears us when we cry out to Him. And He calls us to Him. When we cry out to God for help, He calls us to come to Him. He asks us what we need, and He takes care of our need.
You may feel like this blind man did, overlooked, cast out, abandoned, alone. But God sees you. The man cried out to Jesus believing what he had heard about Him, and Jesus healed him because of the faith that he showed. We must have faith. If you cry out to Jesus know and believe that He heard you, and He will help you. Have faith that He will help you. You may not see an immediate answer, but keep trusting that He has everything under control. The more faith we have in Him, the more He will heal different areas in our lives. Especially ones we didn't know we were struggling with. Unfortunately, our past sins, unforgiveness, and so many other things, can cause major problems for us mentally and physically. But Jesus can heal everyone of those areas. Trust Him and have faith that He will take care of you. He will never leave you or abandon you.
