Peace in the Midst of Trials

Good morning! Today I am in John 16:16-33. Jesus tells His disciples again that in a little while they would not see Him anymore, but a little while after that they would see Him again. The disciples asked each other what He meant. Jesus knew they wanted to ask Him what He meant, and He repeats Himself to them. Saying that they will weep and mourn over what is going to happen to Him, and the world will rejoice. But their grief would suddenly turn to wonderful joy. Like how a woman suffers labor pains, but once the child is born, the woman's anguish turns into joy because of the new baby. So they would have sorrow, but when they see Him again, they would rejoice, and no one can steal that joy from them. Once that happens, He tells them they won't have to ask Him for anything, for they will ask the Father directly, and He will grant their requests because they use His name. They would ask using His name and receive, and they would have abundant joy. For the Father loves them dearly because they love Him and believe that He came from God. And now He would leave the world and return to the Father. The disciples tells Him that now they understood that He knew everything, and they believe He came from the God. Jesus asked them, "Do you finally believe?" Then He tells them that the time was coming, and was now there, that they would be scattered, each one going his own way, leaving Him alone. But He tells them that He is not alone for the Father was with Him. And He has told them all these things so they would have peace in Him because here on earth they would have many trials and sorrows, but they were to take heart for He has overcome the world.

The disciples were still puzzled by everything that Jesus was telling them, and He knew it. But He tells them because they love Him and believe in Him, God loved them. And they would be able to go to the Father directly after they saw Him again. Warning them that they would face many trials and suffering, but God would be with them every step of the way, giving them peace and abundant joy. Which is a promise for all of us that believe in Him today.

Jesus died for everyone of us. So we would not be a slave of the enemy anymore. But that we would have peace in Him knowing the He alone has saved us. No matter what we face, God will be with us and He will help us. When the enemy tries to tempt us and throw us off track, God will help us by showing us a different path. We don't have to fall into the same old patterns and sins, God gives us a way out, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

God knows our hearts and knows when we are questioning, just like Jesus did with His disciples, and He will answer those questions if we give Him the time and space in our lives to do so. We don't have to hide or be afraid because God knows all and He wants to help us. We can have peace and joy through any circumstance because God is with us. And we can go to God directly because we believe in Jesus, God's Son. We can go directly to God with our requests, and He will hear us and answer us. But we must spend time with God, getting to know Him and His Son so we can hear Him better. The more time we spend with God, the more peace and joy we will have. And the more we can help others. Know that God is with you always. No matter what you go through, God is there for you and wants to help you. He has already overcome the world, all we have to do is walk in that peace.
