Good morning! Today I am in Luke 13:22-30. Jesus was going through the towns and villages, getting closer and closer to Jerusalem, teaching as He went. Someone in the crowd asked Jesus if only a few people would be saved? Jesus told them to work hard to enter the narrow door to God's Kingdom, for many will try to enter and fail. When the master of the house has locked the door it will be too late, and they will stand outside knocking and pleading for Him to open the door, saying He knows them because they sat and ate with Him. But the master will reply that He did not know them or where they came from. And He will tell them to get away from Him, all who do evil. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, for they will see their ancestors and the prophets in the Kingdom of God but they will be thrown out. People from all over the world will take their places in the Kingdom of God. And the people that seem the least important now will be the greatest then, and some of the people who are greatest now will be the least important.
Jesus tells us that the way into God's Kingdom is narrow. And many will try to get in, but many will fail. The door is narrow because He is the only way. It is through our faith in Him that we enter into God's Kingdom. It's not work and what we can do ourselves, but about our faith in God. But we do have to work hard in following Jesus. We have to make a daily decision to follow Him and trust Him. Consistently seeking Him and spending time with Him. If we do not, then when the time comes for us to pass away, and that door gets shut and locked to the Kingdom, we will be like the people Jesus described, "knocking at the door and pleading", but God will respond that He never knew us because we did not seek Him while we had the time. We may have known about God, we may have even claimed to be His followers, but if we never try to spend time with Him and get to know Him, then we never actually knew Him.
God does not care about earthly standards, He cares about being close to us. We must make time for God. He is the one who created us from the very beginning, and He is the one that gives us all the things we need. He even gives us time to come to Him. But we must come to Him while we are alive, while there is still time. We never know when that time will be up, and we will pass away. That is why it is important to choose Him know while we are still alive. We never know when that time will end. If you are still alive, God is still giving you time to come to Him. Choose Him before it is too late.
