7:40 am

Good morning! Today I am in Luke 14:15-24. Jesus is still sitting at the table of the Pharisees house. After He got done talking to them about humility, a man at the table listening said, "What a blessing it will be to attend a banquet in the Kingdom of God! (Luke 14:15)" Jesus responds with another story. He tells them that a man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant again, to the people he had invited, to let them know the feast was ready. But when the servant was telling the people, they all began making excuses as to why they couldn't come. One man told him that he just bought a field and had to inspect it. Another man said that he just bought 5 pair of oxen and he wanted to try them out. And another said that he just got married so he couldn't come. The servant returned and told his master what all of them had said, and his master was furious. He told him to go out into all the streets, alleys, and towns and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame. After the servant had done this, there was still room at the table. So the master told him to go out into the country lanes and invite anyone he found to come, so that the house would be full. He tells him that none of them he first invited will get even the smallest taste of the banquet.

This story is what God has done for us. The first invitation to God's banquet, or heaven, was Moses and the prophets. He sent Moses and the prophets to His people, the Israelites, to prepare them and get them ready for Him. But these people time and time again refused to listen and even killed the prophets and messengers He sent. They rejected God and what He offered them. The second invitation is Jesus. God sent His Son, not just to His people this time, He sent Jesus for every single one of us!!! Praise the Lord! He sent His Son to invite us to the best banquet of all time. That feast will be in heaven with Him!!! That invitation is not just for the Israelites, or just a select few, its for Everyone! There is a seat at His table for everyone of us! That news is enough to make me want to get up and dance!!

But here is the thing, many of us refuse it. Just like the first people, the Israelites, we make excuses why it is not a good time for us to accept Jesus' invitation. Many times its because we feel like we are going to miss out on all the good things that the world offers. But that is such a lie from the enemy. The world is constantly showing us things that look like they would be better than following God. But let me tell you, there is nothing better in this whole world than following God! God helps us not fear or worry about what is going to happen. He gives us peace. He fills us with joy, even during hard times. And then the best offer of all, the Banquet, the Wedding Feast of the Lamb (Revelation 19:6-9), at the end of this life! We don't have to fear judgment at the end of this life, if you have accepted Jesus into your life. If you have accepted Him and followed Him, we have an amazing Feast with Him to look forward to! You are invited. Don't allow the world to tell you, you are missing out if you don't partake in what it offers. God has got something better than you could ever imagine. That does not mean that everything will be easy once you accept Him and follow Him, but that you have someone that will help you every step of the way. Accept His invitation. There is a seat at His table for you!
