True Wisdom Comes from God

Good morning! Today I am in James 3:13-18. James tells us that if we are wise and understand God's ways, we must prove it by living an honorable life, and doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. But he tells us that if we are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in our hearts, we must not cover up the truth by boasting and lying. Because jealousy and selfishness are not God's kind of wisdom. Jealousy and selfishness are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. He tells us that wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, we will find disorder and evil of every kind. But true wisdom from God is pure, peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. He tells us that people who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

God's wisdom is a wisdom that is not of this world. His wisdom is pure, peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. The more we grow closer to God by spending time with Him in His Word, prayer, and worship, the more our lives will be filled with these good things. All these good things that James lists here, only come from God. And they are all things that everyone of us wants in our lives. We all want lives full of peace and love, no quarreling or disorder. Quarreling, disorder, jealousy, and selfishness are all things that the enemy wants to create in our lives. These things pull us away from God and pull others away from God.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:20, "just as we can identify a tree by its fruit, so we can identify people by their actions." We will know the kind of wisdom a person has by the kind of fruit they produce in their lives, whether they have wisdom that comes from the world or the true wisdom that comes from God alone. Galations 5:19-23 tells us exactly what actions that are of this world and that are evil, not of God, as well as tells us the fruit we will be producing in our lives when we are truly submitted to God. Our actions prove to others who we truly follow, God or the enemy. The more we seek God, the more wisdom delivers us from the need to compare ourselves to others and to want what they have. God wants us to focus on Him, and what He has for us, and not what others have. He doesn't want us to compare ourselves to others, but to compare ourselves to what He says in His Word. When we stop looking at this world for what we need, and really start evaluating our lives and actions, God will start showing us the things that we need to work on in our lives. But that wisdom only comes from Him. Seek Him. Spend time with Him, and allow Him to open your eyes and your heart to His ways, His perspective, and allow Him to start changing your life. He wants you to have a life full of love, peace, joy, and all the good things that only come from Him. Stop seeking the world for the things that only He can give. He wants to do that for each of us. But we must choose it for ourselves.
