Unity for all Believers

Good morning! Today I am in John 17:20-26. Jesus is still praying to the Father, but this time He is praying not only for His disciples that He had at that time, but also for all who would ever believe in Him because of their message. He prays that they will be one, just as He is one with the Father. As the Father is in Him and He is in the Father. Praying that they will be in Him and the Father so that the world will believe the Father sent Him. He says that He has given them the glory the Father gave Him, so they would be as one as Him and the Father are one. He says that He is in them and the Father is in Him. He prays that they will have perfect unity so the world will know that the Father sent Him and that He loves them as much as He loves Him. He prays that those the Father had given Him be with Him where He is, so they can see all the glory He gave Him because He loved Him even before the world began. He says that the world doesn't know the Father, but He does, and the disciples the Father sent Him knows Him because He has revealed Him to them. And He says that He will continue to do so. Then His love will be in them, and He would be in them.

Jesus prays that the disciples that He had at that time, and all who would follow Him later, would be unified in Christ. So unified that the world around them would know that He was the Son of God and that He was in them. Sharing God's glory and love with all who would receive it.

God did not want His people to be separated, but unified. Unified in Him and His Son. Together with one common denominator, Christ. Jesus Christ came and gave His life for every person that would ever live. This prayer should encourage us to work together with other believers. We should be encouraging others not tearing each other down for not believing the same way we do. Not putting unrealistic expectations on people like the Pharisees at Jesus' time did. We are to be working together, building each other up,encouraging others, praying for others, helping each other. That's what God wants. And when we do, we show the world the Father. The more we spend time with God in His Word, the more the Holy Spirit, that Jesus sent to dwell in every believer, reveals more and more of God to us. And the more God shows us what we can do to help others. It's awesome to know that Jesus prayed for every one of us before we were ever born. God wants us to know how much He loves us. He wants us to know how important we are to Him. He wants us to be unified with Him and His Son, and with all the other believers. Spend time with Him today. Grow closer to Him. Allow Him to help you today.
