Good morning! Today I am in Matthew 28:11-15. After Jesus appeared to the women. Some of the guards went to the religious leaders and told them what had happened. The leaders called a meeting with the elders, and they decided to give the soldiers a large bribe. They told the soldiers that they must say that Jesus' disciples came and stole His body during the night, while they were sleeping. And that if the governor finds out about it, they would stand up for the soldiers so they would not get into trouble. The guards accepted the bribe. And their story spread widely among the Jews and they still tell it today.
At this time, two different stories was being spread throughout the communities, the women's stories and the religious leaders stories. One was the truth, the other was a lie. Today, both stories are still told, and we have to make a choice as to what we are going to believe. We either believe Jesus and that He rose from the grave, or we believe what the leaders spread, that Jesus' disciples stole the body. There is a lot of proof that show that Jesus rose from the dead, but there is no proof of His body being stolen.
We must make sure we are trusting the right story. And like the women, we must share what we have learned, what the Lord has revealed to us, to all who will listen. That is our mission. Just like it was the women's mission. Share the Good News of Jesus' Resurrection where ever you go.
