Good morning! I know it is early, but I wanted to hop on here while I have time. This morning I was in Luke 2:41-52. Jesus and His parents go to Jerusalem for the Passover celebration. When the celebration was over, they headed back home. Jesus' parents thought that He was among the other travelers because they traveled in a large caravan for safety. But when they got home, they could not find Jesus anywhere. So they went back to Jerusalem and found Him 3 days later in the Temple with the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions. Luke tells us that all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. His parents asked Him why He stayed there and did not go with them, telling Him that they searched frantically for Him. But Jesus answered them saying, "didn't you know that I would be in my Father's house?" But they didn't understand what He meant. Then He returned home with them and was obedient to them. And He grew in wisdom, in stature, and in favor with God and all the people.
Wow, to have this kind of awe and wonder of God, to just was to stay in His house and linger in His presence. That feeling is such an awesome feeling. That is the kind of feeling God wants us to have. He wants us to want to stay and linger in His presence, talking to Him and asking Him questions. He wants to spend that kind of time with Him. To me, reading these versus, that is exactly the way Jesus was feeling. He was so enthralled with what the teachers were teaching that He it seems He was oblivious to the fact that everyone had left, including His parents.
Have you ever had that kind of feeling with God, whether at home or at church, wherever?
That type of feeling makes us want to keep getting into God's Word and spending time with Him. I love when I get that feeling. Because I have gotten into God's Word so much, that feeling happens every time I get into His Word in my own personal time. But we have to be intentional about wanting to seek Him and spend time with Him. If we are spending time with Him just to check a box on our to do list, we are not doing it for the right reasons. Spending time with Him in His Word should be something that we really want to do because we love God.
I will say it is hard to get started on that daily routine, most good habits are hard to create, but have grace with yourself, God does. If you truly want to spend time with Him getting to know Him, He sees that, He sees your heart, and understands when you mess up or miss a day. Just try again the next day. It will change your life.
Find a time in your day that you can carve out, maybe just 10 minutes to start with, that it can be just you and God, nothing else. Make it an important part of your daily life, and He will change your life. Even if it is just a few minutes. It helps, and God will honor your trying.
Father, thank You so much for Your Words of encouragement! Thank You for wanting to spend time with me personally! Thank You for being patient with me when I struggle with finding that time sometimes. Thank You for waiting for me, and accepting me with open arms! Father, help me make the time for You in my day. Show me the best time of day for me to get into Your Word. Help me understand Your Word when I do. And give me that child like wonder that Jesus had while He was in Your house. Thank You Father for You help. In Jesus Name, I Pray, Amen!
