Good evening! Hopping on here real quick while I eat some noodles. Today is the women's church group I mentioned yesterday. It is at First Baptist Church in Trenton, Tn at 6:30 pm, if anyone is ever interested in going. It is in the gym behind the church. By the time I finish this though, it will be time for me to leave. I may not even get this finished before I leave. We will see. Yesterday, I started typing while I was working on supper, and had to stop several times and realized, that is not easy to do. Starting, then having to stop, and when I come back I have to figure out where I was and all that. Time is limited though, and I have to do what I can. I don't want to miss posting. When I sit down to do this though, I feel like I am having to get in the same mind frame as when I am doing my actual Bible Study. Which, makes complete sense because for me it takes focus, and when something or someone is distracting me, I can't focus on what the Lord is saying to me. That's why for me, it is better for me to study my Bible first thing in the morning when the house is quiet. Which makes a very good point for today.
The enemy will do whatever he can to distract us from doing God's will.
Doing God's will looks different for all of us, and so do the distractions. The enemy knows exactly what he can use to distract us. Those distractions can look like other people, our phones, tv, games, books, etc... The key though is to figure out the best time to meet with God with the least distractions, as well as, figuring out what distracts you the most personally. One way to do this is when you get into God's Word is there something that always happens as soon as you open the Bible. Or when you pray, is there something that pops into your mind that keeps you from focusing? What is that for you? For me, it is all those things I listed, and more. But you can pray through it and ask God to help you figure that out, and show you what is best with you.
That actually makes me think of the Scripture I was in this morning, Matthew 1:18-25. An angel appeared to Joseph, Mary's husband to be. He found out Mary was pregnant, and was trying to figure out a way to break off the engagement without causing shame to her. The angel appeared to Joseph and told him to not be afraid to marry Mary. For she was pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. And told Joseph to name the baby Jesus. Joseph was worried about what the world thought as well as trying to believe her. Distractions some times can look like worry. They take our eyes off our goal or plan. Joseph was worried, it caused him to take his eyes of the plan of marrying Mary. If he stayed with that thought, he would have never had the opportunity of raising the Messiah. And he would have regretted that. If we allow the distractions from keeping us from spending time with God, we will miss out on what He has for us in that moment. So allow God to show you how and when to spend time with Him.
