Good morning! This morning I am still in Matthew 4:1-11. It is a short section, but so good, and my Bible has several notes about it. One thing that really catches my attention this morning, is how the enemy used Scripture to tempt Jesus. I talked about what the devil tempted Jesus with yesterday, and how to prepare for those attacks when they come. One thing the devil will do is use Scripture to tempt us. He does this in a couple of ways. One way is when you are feeling tempted to sin, doing something you know the Lord does not want you doing, the enemy will put the thought in your head that it is okay. That that one little sin will not separate you from God. That God will forgive you for that, so its okay to do it again. And that the Lord tells us that we can eat, drink, and be merry, so go right ahead. These same thoughts, the enemy will give to other people that are trying to tempt you into sinning with them. So the enemy will either put the thought directly in your head, or he will send someone to speak that out loud to you.

Here is the thing though, all these things are true. All those thoughts. God does love you, God will forgive you if you slip, but that does not give us the right to keep on doing that sin. When the Lord convicts us in our spirit, that we need to stop something, it is because it is not good for us. It hurts us, it hurts the people around us, and it grieves the Holy Spirit that lives within us.

Is there something that the devil keeps tempting you with that you or someone you know keeps talking you into? We all have something that the enemy keeps coming at us with. That is sometimes a daily struggle. You can fight that though. The more you get into God's Word and pray, talking to Him daily, the more He will give you the tools to fight with. The more He will show you what grieves Him, and how to equip yourself against the enemies attacks. Knowing what God actually says is very important to our daily walk. Get into His Word, and learn about what God has for you and what He wants you to do.
