Even with Miraculous Signs, Not Everyone will Believe

Good morning! Today I am in Acts 14:1-7. After Paul and Barnabas left Antioch of Pisidia, they went to the town of Iconium. There they went to the synagogue to preach the Word of God. They preached with great power, and many Jews and Greeks became believers. But some of the Jews spurned God's message and poisoned the minds of Gentiles against Paul and Barnabas. But the apostles stayed there a long time, preaching boldly about the grace of the Lord. And the Lord proved their message was true by giving them the power to do miraculous signs and wonders. Even with the miraculous signs, the town was still divided in their opinions of them. Then a mob of Gentiles and Jews, along with their leaders, decided to attack and stone them. When Paul and Barnabas learned of this, they fled to the region of Lycaonia, and preached the Good News there.

Even though the Lord gave Paul and Barnabas the power to do miraculous signs and wonders to prove that they were speaking the truth, many still did not believe. The same thing happened with Jesus. Jesus did many miraculous things, healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons, multiplying food, and much more, but still many did not believe. Many times we pray that God gives us this type of power to win people to God, but still not everyone will believe. Instead of wishing for the power to do miracles, use what God has already blessed you with, your testimony, your gifts, talents, and abilities that you can use to point people to God. Because whether you have the power to do miracles or not, not everyone is going to believe. We are to remain faithful and obedient by sharing the Good News, and allow God to do the rest. We can't make people believe, all we can do is share. And if the person or people are not respective, move on and leave them in God's hands. Continue to pray for the person or people, but don't worry yourself or stress yourself out because they did not believe. Don't allow other people's unbelief and criticism stop you from following God and continuing to share God's message.

We also must be careful who we allow to speak into our lives. We see here that a few nonbelievers spoke poison to some of the people, turning them against Paul and Barnabas. The enemy tries to do this same thing to us. He will try to use people around us to turn us against God. Using other people's criticism of God to make us question our faith and ultimately try to turn us away from God. We must pay attention to who is speaking into our lives. If we begin to notice that what they are saying is having a negative effect on us, we need to separate ourselves from those people and seek God. Seek God and allow Him to restore your mind and heart back to Him.

We all must do a mental check and a heart check to make sure we are not being pulled in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, it is very easy for us to get distracted by the world around us and we fall away from God. But that is exactly what the enemy wants. The enemy does not want us to be in God's Word and praying. He wants us to be too busy and distracted that we can't find time for God. But that is not what God wants. God wants a close relationship with us. Focusing on Him and putting Him first in our lives so He can bless us and then we can bless other people. We are more powerful when we are staying in God's Word and focusing on Him. The world around us needs us to stay connected to God. Because sometimes, we are the only light a person may see in their day. And we all need that light of God in our lives. So don't get discouraged when you don't see people coming to believe in God, keep pressing into God and allowing Him to guide you into what to do next. He will, and He will be with you every step of the way.
