Good morning! Today I am in 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10. Paul, Silas, and Timothy, write this letter to the Thessalonian church. He begins by saying that they are writing this to those who belong to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Saying, "May God give you grace and peace." They tell them that they always thank God for them and pray from them constantly. And that as they pray, they think about their faithful work, their loving deeds, and the enduring hope they have because of their Lord Jesus Christ. They tell them that they know God loves them and has chosen them to be His own people because when they brought them the Good News, it was not only with words, but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave them full assurance that what they said was true. And they know of their concern for them from the way they lived when they were with them. They received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought them. In this way, they imitated both them and the Lord. As a result, they became an example for all believers in Greece. And now the Word of the Lord is ringing out from them to people everywhere, for wherever they go they find people telling them about their faith in God. Saying they don't even need to tell the people about it, for they keep talking about the wonderful welcome they gave them and how they turned away from idols to serve the living and true God. And they speak of how they are looking forward to the coming of God's Son, Jesus, from heaven. Whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment.

The way Paul talks about the Thessalonians faith is the same way God wants us to be. When we heard the Good News that brought us to God, it was the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit that we received it. God was the one that sent the person to share the Good News with us. It was because of God's love for us that He did that. Calling us to be His son or daughter. And just like the Thessalonians, when we started to believe, the power of the Holy Spirit began working in our lives, changing us to be the person God created us to be from the very beginning. And that power should be flowing out of us to other people, so that when we meet other people they will come to know God for themselves by the way we act and the way we treat them. The Word of God should be pouring out of us so much that it encourages other people and gives them hope. The Thessalonians had become living examples for all believers, even though they faced persecution. We are to be living examples of Christ's love, mercy, and grace, even through hardships and trials. Through the Holy Spirit within us, God gives us the strength and encouragement to keep going, to keep trusting Him, and to keep living for Him, because we have a hope that is not in this world. Our hope is in God alone. Through that hope and faith, we can face anything the enemy will throw at us. If you are a believer, God chose you to be His, and He will be with you always. Never forget that.
