God is in Control

Good morning! It is such a beautiful morning. Its a little over cast but the temperature is very nice. Hopping on here a little earlier this morning. I have a prayer group to go to on Fridays, so I want to get on here before I leave. Yesterday was a really good day. After I had posted the blog yesterday, a YouTube video popped up on my feed from a channel called Better Together, and man it was so good. It spoke directly to me. And honestly was on the same topic I typed about yesterday. For me another confirmation, that I am on the right track.

This morning, I was in Luke 2:1-7. Joseph and Mary are heading into Bethlehem because the Roman emperor decreed that a census be done throughout the Roman empire. At this time in history the Romans were ruling over the entire civilized world. So, Joseph was traveling to his hometown because of that. Of course, this is exactly when and where Jesus is born.

This morning God has put timing into my mind. As I was reading these verses, He is reminding me of how His timing is perfect. We can make all the plans in the world, but when He wants to do something in our lives, His timing is perfect. Joseph and Mary were obviously not in a condition to travel 70 miles from where they were currently living in Nazareth to Bethlehem, but God had other plans. His plans lined up with a prophesy that was given in Micah 5:2, in the Old Testament. Micah prophesied that a ruler of Israel would come to them from the little town of Bethlehem. A ruler whose origins are from the distant past. The Roman empire, that thought they had control over the world at the time, did not know what was about to happen, but God did. What the Romans decreed worked right into God's perfect timing. Joseph new that the baby they were about to have was special, but I don't believe they even thought about they old prophecy at the time. Joseph was just obedient to what he was told to do. This also reminds me of the Old Testament stories, that several times people that didn't even believe in God, or mocked God, God still used them for His plans. God can use anybody to bring about what He has got planned. Don't ever allow the enemy to tell you that God can't use you. When we do that we start putting limitations on God. God is sovereign over the whole earth. He created it. He knows exactly what is going on at every point in time. You can't limit God like that. He works beyond what we could ever imagine. His plans for us are so much bigger than we could ever dream. But you can get a picture of what God has planned for you when you spend time with Him.

When God calls us to do something, we may not understand why He has called us to whatever it is or we may not understand how that thing could ever work, but God knows. God has already got the full picture. So trust Him. If He tells you to step out and do something, do it in obedience and faith, knowing that our God that is without limit, that is bigger and better than anything we could ever imagine, is going to work it out. He is going to work it out in His perfect way, and timing. You don't have to fear messing up because God is in control.

Question for you today: Are you trusting what God has promised you, and walking in obedience to what He has called you to?

I can honestly say that this blog is me being obedient to what God called me to do. Do I completely understand why He called me to do this, no. But I do know He called me to it. Something funny to me, this morning after I read the versus, I went to take a shower, and a song was stuck in my head. It was "Still" by Crowder featuring Zach Williams. If you haven't heard it, go check it out. One thing I have learned is that God uses songs a lot of times to speak to me. This song was stuck in my head, and I fully believe that God put it in there as another confirmation that this is what He wanted me to speak about today. This song lines up quite a bit with what God was telling me this morning. You might not think that, but for me it did.

Whatever you are going through today, trust God that His timing is perfect and He is going to work all things out for your good, even though it might not look like it right now.
