God Meets You Exactly Where You are At

Good afternoon!  I hope you are having a good day so far.  I have, it has been a very relaxing day.  Right now, I am sitting by the lake while my husband fishes.  We just got out here.  We have been sitting out by a fire for most of the day.  I love this time of year, the weather feels great, the wind is slightly blowing, and I love the smell of all the leaves.  Then you combine that with some wood smoke, I love it.  I could sit outside all day like this.  Right now there are several duck hunters coming on and off the water, but other than that it is pretty peaceful.

This morning, I was in Luke 2:8-20.  An angel just appeared to some shepherds in a field tending to their sheep.  The baby Jesus had just been born, and the angel was coming to share the good news.  The shepherds were terrified, but just like when the angels appeared to Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, and several others throughout the Bible, the angels tells them not to be afraid.  The angels tell the shepherds to not be afraid for he is coming to bring Good News.  “Good News that will bring joy to all people, for the Savior, the Messiah, was born.”  The angel told them where to find the baby.  Then it says that a vast host of others, the armies of heaven, appeared and began praising the Lord.  As soon as the angels left, the shepherds decided to go find the baby.  When they got there, they told everyone everything the angel said and what they saw.  Then they went back to their flocks praising God for everything they had seen.

Could you imagine being one of the shepherds that the angel appeared to? How amazing it would be to see the angels praising the Lord, then getting the chance to see the baby Jesus.  It would be amazing.  It makes me think of how the Lord appears in our lives.  Remembering the life I was living, when He came and met me right where I was at.  How the Lord helped me through the things I was dealing with at the time.  Then to how He meets with me every single day.  Every time I choose to spend time in His Word, whatever time that may be, He meets me right where I am at.

The Lord didn’t choose major public figures to appear to first, He chose to appear to humble people that were just working with what they had, and obeying the Lord.  He chooses us the same way.  And when we choose to spend time with Him, He chooses to meet with us.  It may not be as how it was for the shepherds, but God sends us people into our lives to speak His Word to us.  To speak into our lives.  When we take time out of our day to spend with Him, we are being obedient.  When He meets with us, and does amazing things in our lives, like the shepherds we are to go out into the world and tell others about His Good News.  The Good News of how He came to each one of us, to save us, to help us, and to change our lives for the good.  Sharing that with others is how we are obedient to God.  You don’t have to travel to far away lands as a Missionary, unless the Lord calls you to that, but sharing wherever you are, in town, at work, in your home, wherever you are.  Even online.  The Lord wants us to share our stories of how He has appeared to us and helped us, just like the shepherds shared of the encounter they had with the Lord.

When I started this blog, I did not realize I would be posting a daily question, but a question always pops in my head at the end of the blog to help me reflect on what I just typed.  I think it is a good habit to have whenever you read God’s Word, to reflect on how the Word pertains to us, where we are today.

So today, where are you at?  Do you meet with God everyday and if you do, do you share what you have learned or what God has done?  If you don’t right now, I encourage you to start.  Because the Lord wants to use you and your story to help other people, even though you don’t see how He could use you at the time, He can.
