4:43 am

Good morning! Another early start for me. I woke up at 3:10 this morning. I am happy with that, I would like to be up by 3 am. I know that is early, but it would be the best time for me, because it is super quiet in the house, except for the dogs that get a little rowdy. 3 am gives me enough time to get into God's Word without having to rush. First thing in the morning is the best time for me to get into God's Word. That may be different for you. You may not be a morning person, night time before bed might suit you better. There is no right or wrong time, that is different to everyone of us. It is best though, that it is a quiet place, without distractions. Many times Jesus went off alone to pray. John the Baptist stayed in the wilderness away from people, and the influences of the world. Other prophets throughout the Bible were the same way. The important thing is to make time for God.

John pointed out to the people that came to hear him, that they had to turn away from their sins and ask God for forgiveness. He told that same thing to everyone. Not changing his words to keep from making anyone mad, but because that is what the Lord instructed him to do. John knew God's voice because He spent time alone in the wilderness with Him. He knew God's instructions because he studied them. He didn't allow the outside world to influence him. Many times we allow the outside world to influence us, without getting into God's Word and allowing Him to show us and teach us what is right, not the world's standards. The more we spend time with Him the more He changes us and helps us see that the world's ways only lead to us suffering. Get alone with Him. Don't allow what the world says about the best way to live life to influence you, but allow God to be the only one influencing you.

Who or what is influencing you? As we grow up, we are all influenced by the world's standards on how to dress, what to say, what is the best thing to do, etc.. That is a habit that is only broken by taking your eyes off the world, and focusing on God, and what He says about you. You will live the life God wants you to live when you do that. A life full of joy, peace, contentment, all of those awesome fruits of the Spirit we all want in our lives that only the Lord gives when we spend time with Him. Spend time with Him and let Him alone influence you.
