Jesus Knows You

Good morning! It is a beautiful day outside! Just cold. I wish I could be sitting outside right now, but I don't like the cold that much.

This morning I am in John 1:35-51. John the Baptist sees Jesus passing by and he tells two disciples that were there with him to look, that there was the Lamb of God. The two disciples leave John and begin to follow Him. Jesus notices and asks them what they want. They asked Jesus where He was staying, and He told them to come with Him and see. They stayed with Jesus for the rest of the day. One of the men was Andrew. Andrew left Jesus and went to find his brother, Simon, and told him about Jesus, and brought him to meet Him. When Jesus met Simon, He told him He knew who he was and told him that he would be called Peter. The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and told him to come and follow Him. Philip then went to look for Nathanael and told him that they had found the person the prophets had wrote about, and that He came from Nazareth. Nathanael responded with, "can anything good come out of Nazareth?" But he still went to see who Philip was talking about. When he met Jesus, Jesus said, "Now here is a genuine son of Israel, a man of complete integrity." Nathanael asked Him how He knew him. Jesus told him that He saw him under the fig tree before Philip found him. Nathanael responded, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God -- the King of Israel!" Jesus asked him if he believed just because He saw him, and that he would see greater things than that. That they would, "see the heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man, the One who is the stairway between heaven and earth."

Wow, can you imagine being some of the first disciples? Going along, minding your own business, doing your own thing, then Jesus comes by and calls you. He calls you to come and follow Him. Well, this happens to us today. Jesus sees you right where you are, just like He saw Nathanael under the tree. He sees you. He knows who you are, and He still calls you to Him. He still gives you the same invitation. "Come and follow me." Then just like He did to Simon, He gives us a new name. Making us a new person in Him. It does not matter what you are doing, what you have done, or where you are at, Jesus calls you to Himself. If you are a believer, He called you and has made you a new person.

Have you started following Jesus? We all start from somewhere. Everyone of His disciples had a different background, different personalities. He loved them anyway, and still called them. Jesus leaves you too. He wants all of us to follow Him. Like He told the men in verse 51, He is the stairway to heaven. No one can go to heaven unless they believe in Him first. You do not have to be afraid that He won't accept you. He loves you and wants to give you a new name, a new life in Him. He can help you.
