Prepare Your Heart

Good morning! I am so happy to be able to get on here early this morning! My dogs woke me up early, so I just stayed up. One of our dogs has a knack for waking me up super early, but then she doesn't even want to go out, she is like an alarm clock. I suppose it is a good thing, but it can be annoying. Anyways, continuing on with John the Baptist.

John the Baptist's main purpose was to prepare the people for Jesus. They were all expecting the Messiah, much like we are awaiting His return today. We too must prepare people for Jesus. To prepare people for Jesus we must help them understand why they need Jesus in their lives, and how to receive Him. The Good News. Sharing the Good News of Jesus' salvation. That He came to save everyone who would believe in Him. Everyone, not just a select few. He died for everyone that has been born or will be born.

We were all born with a sinful nature because of the fall of Adam and Eve. We cannot save ourselves. But we can recognize that we need Jesus to forgive us by comparing our lives to the way God tells us to live in His Word. John the Baptist taught people how to prepare for Jesus by helping them understand that they needed to ask Jesus for forgiveness for their sins, and they had to repent of them, and turn away from those sins. Because our sins that we continue to live in keep us separate from God and the life He wants for us, and keeps us in bondage to the enemy, the ruler of this world. Jesus is the only one that can help us with that. He is the only one that defeated the enemy. You are not defeated. The Lord has already won the battle, all you have to do is accept it, and turn away from your sins and turn to God. Sin keeps our hearts hard, and apart from God, but God can restore your heart. Prepare your heart by recognizing what keeps you from walking with God. Is your heart ready?
