Stay Obedient and Faithful

Good afternoon! It is a little late this evening, but I didn't have time to get on here this morning before church, so here I am now.

Today I was in Luke 2:21-35. Joseph and Mary go into Jerusalem to dedicate baby Jesus to the Lord, as was customary in those days, which was in accordance with the Law of Moses. Once they got to the Temple, they met an old man named Simeon. Luke describes Simeon as devout and righteous, and that he was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel for the Holy Spirit was upon him. And the Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Messiah. On that day, the Spirit led him to the Temple were he met the Messiah. When he saw baby Jesus, he took him in his arms and prophesied over him and praised God.

So awesome! I love to see how the Holy Spirit moves in our lives and how he moved in the Old Testament. It is so amazing to see. The Holy Spirit was on Simeon and led him to see the Messiah. Today the Holy Spirit moves in our lives as well, directing our steps. If we believe that Jesus is who He says He is, our Lord and Savior, and we accept Him into our lives, He sends His Holy Spirit to dwell within us, to guide us through our lives as well. The Lord also sees us as righteous for the blood of Christ cleanses us of all our sins, when we repent and turn to Him.

Simeon was an old man when the Lord fulfilled His promise to him. While he was waiting on that promise, he remained faithful and obedient to the Lord. He did not lose heart and give up. So many times in our lives we pray for something to happen, and we don't see the Lord move how we think He should, so we give up and turn away from Him. But like Simeon, instead of giving up we should remain faithful and obedient to the Lord even when we don't get what we are asking for. Because here is the thing, God's timing is not our timing. God sees things and knows things we have no idea about. Instead of giving up and falling away from the Lord, trust that He has got everything under control just like He tells us in His Word. Rest in the fact the He has got everything in control.

Is there something you have been praying for and haven't seen God move yet? Most of us do or have. Keep resting in the fact that God is in complete control even though you may not feel it. Stay obedient and walk in faith. Keep praying and stay in His Word, and allow Him to move in the only way He can.
