We are Called to Live in Freedom

Good morning! Today I am in Galatians 5:1-15. Paul tells us that Christ has truly set us free, but he warns us to make sure we stay free and not get tied up again in slavery to the law. He tells us that if we are trying to win favor with God through the law, then we must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses. If we are trying to make ourselves right with God by keeping the law, then we have been cut off from Christ, we have fallen away from God's grace. But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. For when we put our faith in Christ, there is no benefit in being circumcised or uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love. He tells us that God is the one who calls us to freedom, but we must be careful because false teaching spreads like yeast throughout a whole batch of dough. He tells us, he is trusting the Lord to keep us from believing false teachings, and that God will judge that person, whoever it is. He tells us that if he was still preaching that we must be circumcised, he would no longer be persecuted. If he was no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ, no one would be offended. He tells us that we have been called to live in freedom, but we are not to use our freedom to satisfy our sinful nature. Instead, we are to use our freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command, "Love your neighbor as yourself." We are not to destroy one another.
God calls us into freedom. Freedom from the chains of sin and slavery to the law. Paul warns us to not get caught back up into the slavery to the law, for if we try to win favor with God through keeping the laws, then Christ's death on the cross would mean nothing for us. But His death set us free. He set us free from having to try to earn our salvation. Nothing we could ever do would win us favor with God. We make mistakes. We are sinners, but Jesus came to help us. We don't have to struggle and strive on our own. God does not call us to struggle on our own through this world, but He calls us to put our faith and trust in Jesus for help. That takes so much pressure off of us. We don't have to struggle to get everything right or be perfect, we just have to put our faith in Jesus. As we do that, the more free we are from the sin that used to trap us, and the more we are able to help others. Not helping others to earn God's favor, but to share God's love. The love that He so freely gives to us. Which, like Paul states is the sum of the law, "Love your neighbors as yourself." We are to love God above all else, then love each other just as much as God loves us. The more free we are, the more grace we have with ourselves, and the more grace and love we can show others. But it's only through the love of God that we can do that. This world is hard, and the enemy of this world wants to tear people apart, but that's not God wants. God wants us to come together and love each other. Working with each other. That is how we build up God's Kingdom here on earth. Allow God to free you and give you peace. You don't have to struggle on your own, God is there to help you and guide you. Seek Him, and He will help you.
