Good morning! Today I am in Acts 15:36-41. After Paul and Barnabas spent some time in Antioch, Paul wanted to go back and visit cities they had previously visited and preached the Word of God, to see how the new believers were doing. Barnabas agreed and wanted to take John Mark, but Paul disagreed strongly because John Mark had deserted them earlier and did not continue with them in their work. Because of this disagreement, Paul and Barnabas separated. Barnabas took John Mark and sailed to Cyprus. Paul chose Silas, and as they left, the believers entrusted him into the Lord's care. He traveled throughout Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches there.
Paul and Baranabas's disagreement was so major that they split and went in different directions. Even though they disagreed and went different directions, this helped the Word of God get spread even more. We may not understand why different things happen, but God uses everything for the good. God had put a purpose in each of their hearts, and that was to spread the Good News, the love of God. So even though they disagreed, neither men gave up and quit, they both continued on in their missions for God.
God has put a purpose in each of us, and once we figure out what His purpose is for us, we must not give up. Like Paul and Barnabas, we must continue on. Allowing God to direct our steps. We are to share the Good News with the people God brings into our lives, wherever He places us. And as we are out sharing the Good News we must remember to keep a check on new believers. Checking on them and making sure they are doing okay, and encouraging them to keep up the faith. The more we do this, the more we strengthen others in their journeys. We all need support at some point, and God wants us to be that support for His people. Seek God and allow you to direct your steps. If He places someone on your heart today, pray for that person or even give that person a call, or send them an encouraging text message. As little as those things are, they can make a huge impact on the person that you are thinking about.
