Good Morning! Today I am in Matthew 5:27-30. Jesus tells the people that not only should they not commit adultery, but that anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. He goes on to say that if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out, for it is better to lose one part of your body than to go to hell with your whole body. Then He says the same thing about your hand.
Jesus is talking about how damaging even a little sin is. To me, lust is one of the hardest sins to deal with, because most of the time you can't see when someone is dealing with lust in their hearts, unless they are just completely open with it. It is a very sneaky and secretive sin. The society we live in today, throws it in our face so much that it is hard not to lust. Pretty much every movie we watch today has some type of lust in it, and even now we are dealing with children's movies and shows portraying homosexuality as there is nothing wrong with it. We even deal with it everyday on social media and books we read. So, society is constantly pushing sexual sin at us. We must be mindful of this. Recognizing how sin is coming at us, no matter what the sin is, is the first step in getting rid of it in our lives. When we recognize how it is coming at us, we can stop watching the show or reading the book, getting rid of social media, or maybe not hanging around certain people. He tells us not to even think about sinning. Guard your heart and mind from all forms of sin, because sin starts small, with things that don't seem like a big deal. But when we stay in that sin, continuing on with it, it grows in our lives, and eventually can and will over take us if we don't stop.
Are you stuck in some type of sin? Recognize what that sin is, and if you are not sure, ask God to reveal what sin is hidden in your heart. He will reveal it to you, and He will give you the tools to fight against those sins. He does not want you to be stuck in your sin. Sin affects everyone around us, not just ourselves, even the sin that we believe we have hidden from everyone. Sin in our lives damage our relationship with God as well as the people we love. But God can help you with that. He is the one that forgives us of our sins when we repent and turn to Him. He wants to break the bondage of sin off of you today.
