Jesus Calls the Ordinary

4:29 am

Good morning! Today I am in Mark 3:13-19 and Luke 6:12-16. Some time after Jesus was teaching the large crowd, He went up on another mountain alone, and prayed all night. The next morning, He called together all the disciples that were following Him, and chose 12 of them to be His apostles. These 12 would be His inner circle. They would be accompanying Him, and He would send them out to preach and to cast out demons.

Like we see in many other places in the gospels, Jesus went by Himself to pray before making the decision on who His inner circle would be. He didn't choose these men because of any special qualifications they had, but He chose them because of their willingness to obey Him. He called them personally. These men had many different backgrounds, skills, and personalities, all of which would help them serve God. They were willing to do whatever Jesus asked them to do. They had willing hearts.

It does not matter what your background is or what your skill set is, God can use you. He makes every one of us different for a reason. We are all unique and uniquely called by God to do different things for His people here on earth. All He needs is your heart to be willing to follow Him wherever He leads you, just like these 12 were.

Do you feel qualified to be a disciple of Jesus? If you believe in Him, and trust Him, you are qualified. He wants to be close to you, and He wants to guide you. He wants to use you to help others here on earth. Allow God to use you today. Ask Him how you can serve Him today, and He will lead you.
