Good afternoon! I hope you have had a good day today! My day has been very good. I had to go do a couple of things early this morning, so I didn't have a chance to get on here, but here I am now. We are continuing on with Jesus and Nicodemus in John 3:14-21.

Jesus tells Nicodemus that, "just as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." That God did not send Him to judge the world, but to save the world through Him. Jesus tells us that there is no judgment against anyone who believes in Him, but anyone who does not believe has already been judged for not believing in God's only Son. He tells us that God's light came into the world, but the people loved the darkness more. That all who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.

Praise the Lord that He sent His One and Only Son to save us!

The bronze snake that Jesus is referring to is in Numbers 21:8-9. While the Israelites were in the wilderness, heading to the Promised Land, God sent a plague of snakes to punish them for their rebellious attitudes. So God told Moses to craft the bronze snake on a pole. And God told the people who were snake bitten to look at the snake and believe that He would heal them. Our salvation is the same. We are to look up towards Jesus, who was lifted up on the cross, and died so He could free us from sin's deadly bite. God sent His Son to save us. But Jesus warns us that not everyone will receive Him. He tells us that the ones who don't receive Him love the darkness and their sins more than God.

Many people today are afraid of Jesus. Afraid of the light that He gives to our lives. They are afraid that they will have to give up the things that they love doing. Which in turn shows us that they do not love God, but would rather stay in the sin that condemns them to eternity in hell. Or maybe they don't even believe there is anything after this life.

Where do you stand? Have you allowed Jesus' light to fill your life or do you not want Jesus in your life for fear of what He might find? One thing you should know though, is that you can not hide anything from God. He knows everything about your life. He knows even the darkest secrets you have never told anyone, He even knows your thoughts. But just as God used the bronze snake to heal people from the deadly snake bits, so God sent His Son to save you from the death the sin in your life will cause. He doesn't want any of us to suffer in hell. He wants all of us to believe in Him, and believe that He has got something so much better for you than the sin the enemy offers. When you look up to Jesus for healing and help, He will hear you, and He will save you. But you must truly want it. Allow Him to shine His light into your life to flush out all the darkness that is hiding in there.
