Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good. I'm going to be honest though, my heart is sad this morning. I have been struggling all night and this morning, asking God what I need to do. I believe the passage this morning helped, but it is not easy. I want to be honest on here with how I am feeling everyday because we all have bad days just like we have good days. Some days are harder than others. Especially when you feel like God is calling you to step out in obedience. It seems like the enemy will do everything he can to get in your head and make you doubt or make you afraid. What I am struggling with is not this blog, it's a life issue. I just want to be clear there. I really enjoy getting on here and sharing what God is showing me for the day. Sharing how He speaks to me, so that you might be encouraged to grow your relationship with Him. But we have days where we are questioning something or want to do. In those times, you can ask Him. When you get into your Bible study time with Him, ask Him to help you with whatever struggle you are dealing with. He already knows what you are dealing with, but He wants you to come to Him and seek Him for help in the area. That is exactly what I did this morning. Going into my Bible study time, praying and telling Him the problem I am facing and asking Him for guidance in the matter. I don't want to do anything that is not in His will. And asking Him for guidance will help us stay focused on His will in whatever the matter is.
So this morning in my Bible study, I am in Luke 3:19-20. Just 2 short versus, but very impactful versus. They just tell us that John publicly criticized Herod Antipas, the ruler of Galilee at the time. He criticized him for marrying his brothers wife, and for many other wrongs he had done. So Herod put John in jail.
Short verses, but we see that John was not scared to speak the truth. No matter what the consequences were, he spoke the truth. He told the ruler the wrong things he was doing, and he was thrown into prison for it. There will be many times in our lives that we too are going to have to make a choice. To either speak the truth or remain silent. God wants us to speak truth, His truth. Jesus tells us in John 8:31-32, that those who believe in Him and are His true disciples will remain faithful to His teachings, and will know the truth, and the truth will set them free. We are to speak truth in love with sincere hearts. When we do this we can help other people around us. That does not mean it is easy, especially depending on who you are talking to. We also must ask God to help us speak truth in the right way that will point whoever it is to God and not our own selfish agendas. Speaking truth is to help us and others walk in God's light, because that light casts out all darkness, lies, and self-centeredness that may be there.
Is God asking you to do something today that is hard? Ask Him to help you and guide you on the best path. Ask for discernment for the perfect time, and the right words. He will help you. Give it to Him, and allow Him to help you.
