The Fields are Ripe for Harvest

Good morning! Today I am in John 4:31-38. The disciples tried to urge Jesus to eat after the Samaritan woman had left. But Jesus told them that His nourishment comes from doing the will of God, the One who sent Him, and finishing His work. Then He tells His disciples to wake up and look around for the fields are ripe for harvest. And the harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit of their harvest is people brought to eternal life. He says joy awaits the planters and harvesters alike. He tells them that He sent them to harvest where they did not plant. Others had already done the work, but now they will get to gather the harvest.

Jesus told His disciples that His nourishment came from doing the will of God. As we step out in obedience to what God has called us to, He provides everything we need. His Word is nourishment for our bodies. Giving us the strength and energy to do what He calls us to. Our calling is just like these disciples, sharing the Good News. Jesus was telling His disciples that the people were ready for the message of salvation. Ready for someone to show them how to have eternal life through Jesus. Many people today are waiting for someone to even just ask them about their thoughts on God. Jesus is sending us out, just like He sent His disciples out to share the news. He sends us out to the world that is ripe for harvest. In spreading His Good News, He blesses us with the joy and hope to keep going.

Have you shared the Good News with anyone? It doesn't have to be scary or some long drawn out speech. You don't even have to argue with anyone or have all the answers. All you have to do is let them know that Jesus loves them. That is all we have to do. That alone changes peoples lives. Knowing that the Creator of the universe knows you and loves you will change your life. Share Jesus' love with someone today.
