Good morning! Today I am in Acts 17:10-15. After Paul and Silas left Thessalonica, they went to Berea. The believers in Thessalonica sent them there. When they arrived, they went to the Jewish synagogue. The people there in Berea were more open-minded then the people in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul's message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth. As a result, many Jews believed, as well as many prominent Greek men and women. When some of the Jews from Thessalonica learned that Paul was preaching the Word of God in Berea, so they went there to stir up trouble. The believers in Berea quickly sent Paul on to the coast, while Silas and Timothy stayed behind. Some escorted Paul all the way to Athens, and when those people returned to Berea, they had instructions from Paul to tell Silas and Timothy to hurry to where he was.

The people of Berea listened to what Paul had to say and checked the Scriptures for themselves. And in doing so, they knew he was speaking the truth. When we listen to other people preach or teach the Word of God, we must do the work and search the Scriptures for ourselves to make sure what they are teaching is lining up with God's truth. If we do not, we will be easily led astray by false teachers. Jesus told us that in the end times, there will be more and more false teachers and false prophets (24:4-13). And the way we make sure we are not led astray, is by getting into the Word for ourselves. Allowing God to speak to us personally through His Holy Word. The more we spend time with God in His Word, the more His Word becomes a part of us. In our hearts and minds, so that when someone tells us something that is not of God, we immediately know. It is so important for us to spend alone time in God's Word. That is the main way God speaks to us, is through His Word, the Bible. Spend time with Him today and allow Him to speak truth and life to you. He wants to spend that personal time with you.
