4 am

Good morning. This morning I am continuing on in the story of the woman at the well. John 4:16-26. After the woman asked Jesus to give her some of the living water He was talking about, Jesus told her to go get her husband. The woman told Him that she didn't have a husband. Jesus told her that she was right, that she doesn't have a husband, but has had 5 husbands, and the one she was living with was not her husband either. Then she told Him that He must be a prophet. She asked Him why the Jews insisted there was only one place to worship while the Samaritans claim it is on a mountain where their ancestors worshiped. Jesus tells her that a time was coming when it did not matter where you worshiped. Then He told her that the Samaritans knew very little about the God they worship, but the Jews know all about Him. But a time was coming, and was there, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for people that will worship in that way. For God is Spirit. She told Him that she knew the Messiah was coming, and that when He comes He would explain it to them. And Jesus responded to her, "I Am the Messiah!"

The woman tried to deflect Jesus away from the sins that she had committed, but Jesus showed her that you cannot hide from God. No matter how much we want to hide our sins from God, He sees and He knows. But just like with this woman, He offers us a chance to repent and turn from those old ways. He shows us that He can help give us a new life through Him, and in doing so He gives us His Holy Spirit. Transforming our heart.

Praise the Lord! When Jesus came He set us free from having to be in one certain place to worship Him. When we receive Jesus into our hearts, He blesses us with the Holy Spirit. That Holy Spirit dwells within us to guide us, to help us in so many different ways. We don't have to be in one specific place to worship Him, now we can be anywhere. We don't have to be in a specific church. We are the church. Everyone that has received Christ into their lives, has the Holy Spirit within them, making their bodies a Temple of the Living God. That means as you are going through your day, and you feel like worshiping Him, worship Him, no matter where you are. If you are not comfortable in church, meet other believers some place else, at a park, at someone's house, at a restaurant, you name it. Wherever the Holy Spirit places in your heart to meet. He wants us to make worship a part of our everyday lives. 1 Thessalonians 16-18 tells us to always be joyful, never stop praying, and be thankful in all circumstances for this is God's will for us who belong to Jesus. This is a part of our worship. Acknowledging God in every aspect of your life and praising Him for all He has done, and continues to do in your life. True worship flows from a heart that is transformed by God.

Do you worship in Spirit and in truth or do you worship from a place of obligation? God doesn't force us to do anything. He gives us the opportunity to choose for ourselves what we do. So He will not force you to worship Him. He don't want us to worship because someone told us we had to, but because we love Him and want to honor Him. Truth is we all worship something. If you have not filled your heart with God, then you are worshiping something of this world. Making an idol in your life. Whatever you focus all your attention on, that is not God, you have made an idol in your life. Allow God to cleanse your heart and remove whatever idol you have created in your life. He will if you ask Him to. Allow Him to transform your life.
